Running Into A Daisy
"It just one of those days" Greg thought as he pushes his bovine frame
down the street carrying his last load of flowers. He pushes himself
harder, caring the delicate beauty down the darkening street. He knew
that when he gets back to the floral shop that he was going to get
reprimanded almost every delivery he did that day. Every delivery was
inexcusably late. But that was the normal for today, it's just been one
of those days.
He ran down to the darken dance club streets of Dallas hoping he could
be only a few minutes late for this one last delivery. 'But today was a
day of mistakes', he reminds himself. His mind counted down the
problems of the day: woke up an hour late, broke his toothbrush, his
cable was cut off, his girlfriend dumped him..
His mind was quickly brought back to reality as he slams into something
throwing his precious cargo into the air.
"Shit", he screamed out as the perfect bouquet of flowers lands
haphazardly all over the place.
A female voice breaks through the commotion in his mind, "I'm sorry, I
didn't see you, are you all right", Greg's eyes slowly lifted from the
soiled flowers to the bright blue sparkling eyes of a young filly.
"I'm all right.", he looks back down across the strewn carnage that laid
in the street.
The young filly looks down upon the fallen flowers, "I'm soo sorry. I
didn't notice you coming out when I was leaving the bar." She leans
over and starts picking up the bent broken flowers. "I just hope this
wasn't for your girlfriend"
"I was doing a delivery for my job. It's just been one of those days.",
he sighs.
She looks around the fallen flowers around him, "Maybe there is some
that you can save."
"None of them is worth saving and now I lost my job. It's just one of
those days..", echo rapidly through his mind for a few moments. But a
bright thought erupts from the blackness. Following his heart and
thoughts he bends over and picks up a single flowers. He smiles, "Out
of this crash there is only one flower that I can see that is worth
saving." and slides the remaining flower behind her ear.
Startled, she stops looking at the fallen flowers and looks up at her
unexpected gift giver, "It's not the first time I have been given
flowers on the first date." She looks back at the fallen flowers, "But
never like this." She pauses and look at the very fine man that stood
in front of her. She smiles as he looks just what she is looking for,
"Do you want to go inside and maybe have a few drinks. We can talk
about today, perhaps."
He looks down at the fallen flowers and thinks about his job that he
will be losing. He looks back at the lovely gentle filly he just met.
"How can I refuse an offer like this."
He holds out his arm for her and thinks to himself, "Maybe it's not a
bad day after all."
