Did What Mom Said.... What A Relief!!!
It came all of a sudden. One minute the road was in front of his tired
eyes. The next minute a crack and a bang. His body rudely awakening to the
pull of a seat belt as he is restrained inside the tumbling car.
Then before he could think everything stop and he was dangling upside down.
A quick look and a few moments he soak up the upside world. He smiled and
grinned as he realized how lucky he is to be alive. The smell of oil and
gas start brewing in his nose broke all thoughts and gave him feelings of a
new sense of urgency. He swiftly released the seat belt expecting to fall
to the ceiling but he was still held upside down by his clothing caught in
the shrapnel. In a panic he rips off of his shirt and pants. With those
vestiges off he falls to his freedom onto the ceiling with a thud. The
smells became stronger the sense of emergence grew. He knew that he still
had only moments left before death came. So he tried to open the handle.
The door moved a notched but it refuse to open all the way. He rapidly hit
the door for a while the car refused his exit out of the coffin. With a
quick calculating thought he presses his claws inside the door flame. With
his passion for life let his claws force the stubborn door to open.
He quickly crawls out of the car. He was free but not a moment to soon as a
ball of flame erupt from the car. The explosion throws the driver into the
ground. He lays for a moment with the breath knocked out of him his mind
racing and tries to the answer am I alive or dead. His breathing resumes
and after a few deep breaths he muster his last strength and pulls himself
up with the help of the nearby tree.
The tree branch stops his weak wobbles and helps him regain his strength.
Happy he has conquered the stand he looks upon the flaming wreck of his car. His life money went into the car. His show piece. He screamed at fate for
taking it away. Then started laughing at himself. Fate took the car but
not his life. He still had that.
He sat there smiling and taking deep breaths as his ears perked up to the
calling sounds of the fire trucks blaring down the road. He felt a breeze
through his hair as he remembered his decency was burning inside the car.
He looked down and laughed. His crisp white underwear brimmed up at him as
he remembered that he did what his mom said to him, "Remember to wear clean
underwear"
He laughs and whispers to himself "Yes mother..."
