Minotaur Bust
Greetings!
I was messing around with a lump of polymer clay yesterday and this is what
came out of it.. as usual I went overboard :)
There are three seperate views of the sculpture I'll send out so you can get
an idea of what it looks like. Attached is the first picture. The dimensions
on this are 9 inches tall.. 3.5 inches wide at the span of his horns.
Technical notes---
He is made mostly out of my own blend of polymer clay and has a consistency
of ceramic. The pilar he is on was premade and is formed out of resin, I
used the polymer to make it a slightly wider base to hold the figure on top.
(Don't want the ole' boy to topple over do we? hehe)
After forming him I added twisted brass wire jewelry and some acrylic paint
to highlight him and paint in the eyes.
The neatest part of him (in my opinion) is the horns.. the effects don't show
up at all well in the scans, but its made out of semi transparent polymer
clay that kinda looks like a slightly yellowed version of rose quartz
crystal. If you hold his horns up to a lamp.. the light shines through his
horns.
To finish it off I used gloss varnish over his eyes, snout, nipples and horns
